Couples Therapy
in Horsham
Every relationships and families goes through difficult times.
Even the strongest relationships can reach a point where communication breaks down, the same arguments keep repeating, or you and your partner feel more like strangers than partners. This doesn't mean your relationship is over — it may mean you've reached a place where talking to someone outside the relationship could help.
What brings couples to therapy
People come to couples therapy for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes communication has broken down and every conversation becomes a conflict. Sometimes trust has been damaged — by infidelity, dishonesty, or accumulated disappointments that have quietly eroded the connection between you. Sometimes you feel emotionally distant, more like housemates than partners, and you're not quite sure when that happened or how to find your way back.
Other couples come not in crisis, but because they're navigating a significant life change together — a new baby, a bereavement, illness, or a shift in what each of you needs. Some simply want to strengthen what they have before problems become entrenched. And some are considering separation and want to navigate it with care and as much kindness as possible.
Whatever brings you, you don't have to arrive with it all figured out.
How I work with couples and family issues
I work with couples using a relational framework, drawing on Transactional Analysis to help you both understand the patterns and dynamics that have developed between you. This might involve looking at the roles each of you tends to play, the unspoken contracts and expectations in the relationship, and the early experiences each of you brings to how you relate to the other.
My aim is not to take sides or deliver a verdict on your relationship. It's to create a space where both of you feel genuinely heard — often for the first time in a while — and where something new can begin to emerge.
Sessions last 70 minutes, giving us enough time to work with both of your experiences without feeling rushed. Couples sessions are £90.
I see couples face-to-face in Horsham and online across West Sussex and the UK.
